Background

Lauren has worked in libraries since 2007. After having worked in public, school, and dual purpose libraries, she is now employed at a community college in the Seattle, WA area. Lauren is the night librarian on the reference desk, is the webmaster for the library website (Springshare LibGuides), and participates in campus-wide groups such as the Web Workgroup and Accessibility Committee.

Web

Lauren designed and coded this website using the Umbraco CMS and the Bootstrap 3 responsive framework. HTML/CSS are kind of her thing, and she's learning Javascript. Lauren has done web development for libraries, individuals, businesses, and nonprofit institutions. Knowledge

In addition to web development in a library setting, Lauren is also familiar with the backend of the way library software and their databases work together. Her library is in the final stages of rolling out Primo and Alma which is giving her an opportunity to learn more about how this cloud-based, community network operates on its own and with other libraries.

Future

Lauren thinks the ideal future is where content created by professionals are rated highest on search engines and evaluating for quality information is common knowledge. Search Engine Optimization is a new concept and may be the way to reduce unsupported and unreliable internet sources.
